The FT Seasonal Appeal has ended!

Last year we were lucky enough to be chosen by the Financial Times as charity partner for their Seasonal Appeal that ran throughout December 2011 and ended on 31 January 2012. During the course of the campaign a number of articles ran in the paper, accompanied by some amazing photographs taken by the FT’s Charlie Bibby.

The appeal has now ended and we are delighted to announce that it raised an amazing £3.3 million - making us the most successful charity partnership that the FT has ever had and the first one to raise more than £3 million for this appeal!  The final total is a staggering £3,342,776.70.

The fantastic total would not have been possible without our partners, Standard Chartered and the UK Government.  Standard Chartered generously agreed to double all donations to the appeal, while the UK Government also matched donations made by individuals living in the UK.

FT readers and Sightsavers supporters raised £2.5 million with match funding, while a photography auction at London’s Getty Images Gallery and an online auction of dinners with FT writers raised a further £165,408.  In addition, the charitable global workforce of Standard Chartered donated their last hour’s pay for 2011, bringing in £406,599 towards Sightsavers work.

We would like to thank everyone who supported the appeal.

Caroline Harper, Chief Executive of Sightsavers said:

The generosity of the Financial Times readers, Sightsavers supporters and our match funders, the UK Government and Standard Chartered, has exceeded all our expectations, especially in the current economic climate.  We are very grateful.  Also thank you so much to the Financial Times team for supporting our work in this way
